A 101-year-old World War II veteran who broke his neck in a senseless crash in early March at a red light and died weeks later has been the victim of murder, authorities say from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Army veteran Herbert Muskin died March 30. The 67-year-old former captain’s wife, Sherry Muskin, who was injured in the crash, told FOX5 her husband knew he wasn’t going to survive the night he died. The crash happened as the couple were returning home from shopping at Costco on the night of March 1.
“’I’m going to die’ he said, and I said ‘No. I can’t live without you,’ but he died that night,” the inconsolable widow reportedly said, adding, “I’m adapting very badly. I cry constantly. My eyes are swollen…I can’t stand this. We have been inseparable for over 74 years.
Sherry hoped the suspects would be punished with “jail for the rest of their lives”.

The felony murder suspects are Kassandra Alvarez, 29, the alleged driver suspected of driving over 90mph, and Lorraine Alvarado, 32. convicted felon who authorities say was armed with a handgun.
What started as a response to a robbery at a sporting goods store after 6 p.m. on March 1 turned into a high-speed chase for a stolen car, the fatal crash that killed Muskin, a foot chase and ultimately the police wounding of Alvarado, which the video showed.

The cops also shared a still from another angle that they said showed even more definitively that Alvarado was armed with a gun.

“Here’s a picture of her still in her hand from her perspective,” LVMPD Deputy Sheriff Jim Seebock said.
Alvarado was hospitalized after the shooting and was “visibly” out of court as the initial robbery case against Alvarez moved forward.
Like the other two suspects, alleged co-conspirator Mary Nolan, 39, was initially charged with theft and possession of stolen property. Unlike the other suspects, however, a search of the Clark County Court database did not show an indictment against Nolan or a case file. Law&Crime has contacted the Clark County District Attorney’s Office for clarification on the status of the Nolan case.
8NewsNow reported that Nolan was accused of intentionally distracting store employees while the other two suspects attempted to steal merchandise from Hibbet Sports. Nolan allegedly asked weird questions to draw attention to herself.

Moments later, Alvarado allegedly grabbed a gun from Alvarez’s belt and threatened store staff, 8NewsNow reported. The suspects were said to have taken off in a Mercedes which they quickly ran over – with deadly consequences. After the accident and during interviews with the police, the absurdity of the chase and the accident for stolen clothes would have aroused Alvarez and Nolan.

The charges of Lorraine Alvarado.

Kassandra Alvarez’s accusations
Arrests for Alvarado and Alvarez on multiple felony charges were set for Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. local time, according to Clark County Court records.
While defense attorney Kendall Stone is listed as representing Alvarado, John Turco is Alvarez’s attorney of record.
