Bosasa went into voluntary liquidation after the banks closed their accounts. Murray also worked as a liquidator for companies related to the Gupta brothers. Zondo’s commission found that the brothers, Ajay, Rajesh and Atul, attempted to influence political and economic decisions during Zuma’s presidency in a process known as “state capture”.

The Guptas moved to South Africa from India in 1993 and had a large portfolio of businesses that enjoyed lucrative contracts with South African government departments and state-owned companies.

South African authorities are currently working to extradite the Gupta brothers from the United Arab Emirates, where they were arrested, for trial. They have denied accusations of paying bribes to win contracts.
