The couple spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about the exciting news:
“We’re both so excited about becoming parents, we talked about having a life and kids when we first met, our goals, our dreams, the life we wanted and then it’s really arrived.”
They are excited to start this new chapter together as first-time parents and share the experience together:
“We can’t wait to meet our baby and start this new chapter together. It’s super exciting for us to be parents for the first time and to experience everything together.

The couple said their families and friends were delighted to hear the news.
Mudarris said her family was shocked but very happy for her. She says:
“The news was super exciting for everyone in my family, however, everyone was super shocked and I think they are still shocked even though my belly is huge! Overall, everyone can’t wait for the baby to arrive. They are super happy for me, I found love with an amazing man and God blessed me with my baby, everything I really wanted is really happening.
Ball was in Charlotte, North Carolina when he first heard of the news. He said his family was very happy and excited and that his brothers LaMelo and Lonzo were thrilled to be uncles:
“When I told my mum and dads they were a bit shocked but I think more excited than anything. My mum was screaming and clapping with excitement. When I told my brothers [NBA stars LaMelo and Lonzo Ball] they were happy for me and also delighted to become new uncles for my seed.
The couple know the sex of the baby but have decided to keep it a secret. In addition, they have also already chosen a name for their baby:
“Ironically, we decided on our children’s names three months before I got pregnant, so when we found out it was pretty easy to name the baby.”

Who is Nikki Mudarris?
