Three biznotes from West Seattle tonight:

OPENING OF THE SSC GARDEN CENTRE: This Saturday is the first day you can buy plants grown by students at the Garden center at the northern end of the South Seattle College (6000 16th SW; WSB sponsor) campus. This year again, the center will offer perennials, ground covers, shrubs, some edible and annual flowers and houseplants. It will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. most Fridays and Saturdays from April 15 to June 17. (You can take a detour during the compost distributions on April 22 and May 6!)

OPENING OF ALKI KAYAK CIRCUITS: Starting Saturday at 1660 Harbor SW – here’s the announcement:

Outfitters from the mountain to the sound And Kayaking trips in Alki are thrilled to announce the opening of our 18th season this weekend at our West Seattle location at Seacrest Marina.

At Alki Kayak Tours, we are committed to the conservation and preservation of Puget Sound as a functioning marine ecosystem that supports Seattle’s industries as well as the spawning salmon that travel up the Duwamish River. Our guides provide additional insight into the strait by monitoring its well-being for avoidable ecological damage. We use best management practices and strive to leave the smallest ecological footprint possible when organizing tours.

Our tours are a forum where the Puget Sound community and tourists can discuss and learn about the history and ecosystems of the Sound. Our guides offer meaningful commentary with the aim of ensuring that every paddler leaves with a better understanding and appreciation for this unique corner of the world.

Mountain to Sound Outfitters, our specialty retail store, will also be going through some changes this year and will be offering sales through our booking process and hosting sea kayak and stand up paddle (SUP) demonstrations every 2 weeks. You can register for our demo through our website here.

WILD ROSE’S TO CLOSE: This ad is from West Seattle Junction AssociationCommunity Newsletter:
