As reported here on Tuesday, part of the 4-story apartment building under construction at 5952 California SW fell onto the neighboring property in windy conditions Monday evening. No one was injured, but the fallen material caused some damage. A complaint was then filed with the town hall. Construction and Inspections Department. We asked SDCI if an inspector had visited the site, and if so, what had been the result. Here is which spokesperson Brian Stevens told the BMS today:

We visited the site yesterday morning and found that most of the fallen material had been removed and cleaned up. Some damage occurred to the neighboring property and was actively repaired by the builder. We spoke with the site contractor, and they increased their temporary bracing to ensure the wall framing is supported to best practice.

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries has been contacted and will be on site to conduct a site safety and best practices survey.

We went back to the site on Wednesday and took this picture:

Note: When checking the SDCI website, we noticed that it is Building Safety Month.
