The deal to bring the show to television is part of a new partnership between BET and iHeartMedia. The one-hour condensed daily edition airs Monday through Friday at 9 a.m. ET on BET and sister network VH1.
“What started as a daily morning radio show over a decade ago in New York City has now become a cultural beacon across America,” said John Sykes, president of entertainment businesses at iHeartMedia. “This new partnership with BET will extend the reach of the radio show to millions more viewers on this iconic television network.”
The show marks BET’s entry into daily daytime programming.
“We recognize the influence and popularity of the show, and we are confident that the partnership will be meaningful for our viewers and partners,” said BET CEO and President Scott Mills.
News of the TV partnership comes less than a year after the former breakfast club co-host Angela Yee announced she was leaving the show in August 2022.
Yee told listeners she was hanging up her microphone after 12 years of launching Way Up with Angela Yee on iHeartMedia stations.
Yee made headlines earlier this month when she appeared on the Tamron Hall Show and said it was “difficult” to be “the only woman” on The breakfast club.
“It wasn’t an easy piece for me,” Yee told host Tamron Hall. “I feel like I needed more support, you know, because even the things that I felt, as a woman… someone can’t understand your point of view because he’s not from where you’re from so it was hard for me too being the only woman there.
DJ Envy replied saying THE Shadow Bedroom“There are plenty of women working behind the scenes” of the show.
The program, which hails from New York’s Power 105.1, has been using guest hosts since Yee officially left in December.
The Breakfast Club on BET premieres Monday, April 17 at 9 a.m. ET on BET and VH1. The episodes of the week will all be available to stream every Sunday on BET+.
