EDM producer Diplo says he’s had oral sex with a man before, but he’s adamant that doesn’t make him gay. In a chat with Emily Ratajkowski on her podcast High Low, he talks about his sexual experiences and somehow begins to explain that he could have had sex with someone of the same sex.

Times are changing and being gay is no longer marked by stigma and discrimination, especially with equal rights like the right to marry and for a same-sex couple to have legal rights to property, access laws that previously benefited heterosexual couples, etc. Yet, we are still far from complete acceptance and very few are willing to talk about their sexual experiences as Diplo does.

According to the music producer, he is sure he had sex with a man in the past. “I’m sure I’ve had a blowjob from a guy before. Sure,” Diplo says in a now-viral clip. “I don’t know if it’s gay unless you like making eye contact while the blowjob is going on.” He added: “Giving a blow job isn’t that gay I think.”

As for his sexuality, he explains that he’s fluid and doesn’t want to label himself and even hints that he’s been with a lot of men before.

“I think the best answer I have is that I’m not gay,” he said. “There are a few guys…I might date a life partner,” he added, explaining that he’s opting for a “vibe” over sex.

Diplo has in the past been linked to a slew of women, including rapper MIA, Katy Perry, Kate Hudson and others. The Major Lazer member also fathered three sons with Kathryn Lockhart and recently welcomed a baby boy with beauty queen Jevon King. The 44-year-old was also charged with raping a Canadian girl in 2020, but her prosecution was later dropped.

He also shared in the podcast what turns him on.

“The guy chopping wood is pretty hot,” he says. “I don’t know if that’s what’s going to completely send me to the gay side, but they’re pretty hot.”
