In a new interview with barry robinson by Classic Album Review, SKID SERIES bass player Rachel Bolan talked about what it was like for him and his bandmates to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their second classic album, “Slave of the Grind”performing it in its entirety for a few shows in 2021. He said (as transcribed from BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “We did it a couple of times, I think, and it was fun. It was kind of weird because it’s a whole different energy. Especially with ‘slave to the grind’Because that album was basically where our demographics, the live demographics, went from about 50-50 male to female to about 20-80 male. So here we are 30 years later playing the whole thing and everyone in the crowd is like… You could see all the wives asking their husbands, “What song is that?” THE?’ [Laughs]
“But it was nice” Rachel continued. “It was really cool to dig up some of those songs. I think there were a couple of those that we had Never played live. So it was really cool to dig in and learn those songs again. It was fun. And we had the original decor in stock all those years. And I remember we put it on my front yard and it took up the whole yard. [Laughs] So we had to drag it down the street and my neighbors had to walk around it to get up the driveway. But it was moldy and smelly, and a lot of the paint was peeling off. But we were pretty cool. It shows a bit of age. And just going out with the original set was a cool thing.
In the summer of 2020, bolan said SiriusXM‘S “Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk” that he and his bandmates would get involved with a “Slave of the Grind” 30th anniversary tour in 2021. “We’re going to do the whole album and then we’re going to do stuff to coincide with that,” he said at the time. “We are quite excited and the shows are booked. We’re crossing our fingers that everything goes… It’s gonna be cool to go out there and do ‘slave to the grind’ from top to bottom. It will be funny.
bolan kept saying that SKID SERIES didn’t celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band’s 2019 self-titled debut album because “the timing didn’t really work out. We had so many other things planned, and then suddenly, boom, that was it. he explained. “Maybe down the road [we’ll celebrate it]. Maybe [for the] 40 [anniversary]. [Laughs]”
Ancient SKID SERIES Singer Sebastian Bach also celebrated the “Slave of the Grind” 30th anniversary of a US tour in the fall of 2021. He played the LP in its entirety at all shows on the trek which began in October of the same year.
flow previously performed “Slave of the grind‘ in its entirety in October 2019 at Whiskey A Go Go in West Hollywood, CA. Earlier this fall, he wrapped up a US tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of SKID SERIESthe self-titled debut album.
In June 2019, flow an “open invitation” to other members SKID SERIESthe classic “get on stage and jam” lineup from the singer’s last tour. A few days later, during an interview with the Finn Kaao TVguitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo confirmed that he would not accept flowthe last opening. “I work with my group,” he said. “It is SKID SERIESand that’s what I do.
drummer Rob Affuso – who went; who has left; who left SKID SERIES 1998 and claims to be “the only former member who remains in contact with all the former SKID SERIES bandmates and is still good friends with all of them” – joined later flow in September 2019 at Sony Hall in New York to perform the band’s classic song “Creating chaos”.
Ask by rolling stone if he thinks his former bandmates are offended that he made his invitation public, flow say no. I think it’s a matter of ego. They don’t like it when I get attention and they don’t get attention. It’s always been like that. I can already see them getting angry because I’m sold out, and they’re not part of the show, and blah, blah, blah.
flow was the lead singer of SKID SERIES until 1996 when he was fired. Rather than throw in the towel, the remaining members took a break and briefly played in a band called Ozone Monday. In 1999, SKID SERIES reformed and, after a few revamps over the years, with a cast consisting of Bolan, guitarists Sabo And Scottie Hillnext to the drummer Rob Hammersmith and singers Johnny Solinger. SKID SERIES fired Solingen by telephone in April 2015, a few hours before the ex-DTT Singer Tony Harnell as his replacement. eight months later Harnel left the group and was replaced by a British singer born in South Africa ZP heartwho was previously the leader DRAGON POWER, RESERVOIR And I am me.
