Forget the Galaxy S23, the S20 FE just dropped at a super cheap price

Yes, we’re all very excited for the Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup announced earlier this week, but have you heard the phrase don’t look a horse-in-the-mouth gift?

That could apply to the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE deal we’re currently seeing from Mobile Phones Direct, which offers a free phone and 30GB of monthly data for just £15 a month.

The Galaxy S20 FE costs £15 a month SIM-free

The brilliant Samsung Galaxy S20 SE currently costs just £15 a month with 15GB of SIM-free data.

  • mobile phones directly
  • Free calls and 30 GB data volume
  • £15 per month

See the offer

The deal is a SIM-free deal on Three’s speedy 5G network with the phone available in three colors – Cloud Lavender, Cloud Red and Cloud Navy. If you order early enough, you can get free next day delivery over the phone.

The phone has a generous 128GB of built-in storage, a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display, triple rear cameras and a 32MP front camera to ensure high resolution selfies.

Samsung’s FE (Fan Edition) range offers the benefits of this year’s flagship, but at a more modest price. The first of these was the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. Unfortunately, we didn’t see an S22 FE this time.

The phone was released in October 2020 and was a huge hit with the staff at Trusted reviews. It received 4.5 stars out of a possible 5. We praised the presence of the Snapdragon 865 processor, improved battery life over the S20 models, a nice color scheme and a 120Hz display.

As mentioned, 5G connectivity is supported and there are plenty of capable cameras on board. So unless you’re too concerned about the fastest phone and most advanced cameras, the S20 FE is still a solid option.

Our review concluded: “I can’t say enough good things about the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and if you’re looking for a phone that feels very flagship without spending over £699, this is the best currently on offer.”

and here’s s23 with ridley scott

Now we know about the design of the Galaxy S23. So the S23 and S23 Plus are inspired by their big brother and get rid of their photo block to get even closer to the older Note range. Samsung reiterated that the conference was filmed with the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Ridley Scott, the famous director of Alien and Gladiator, showed Samsung his talent by filming a movie called Behold using the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It’s reminiscent of the Kathryn Bigelow put forward by Apple.

19:15
focus on photo and video

We are interested in the sensor of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is now capable of shooting in 4K 60 FPS on the front and rear. This is partly due to the 200-megapixel sensor, which offers 16-in-1 pixel binning when switching to 12-megapixel shots. 8K is also capable of a 30 FPS boost from now on.

Camera Assistant, the application that allows access to greater flexibility in the use of the camera. There it is now possible to deactivate the automatic sensor change. A new night mode is also visible to give full scope to astrophotography.

Nightography is making a comeback. It was a marketing term introduced last year by Samsung to promote the great qualities of its device in night mode. On the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the OIS can cope with movements twice as large as the S22 Ultra. Noise reduction has also improved, as well as overexposure.

Another innovation highlighted, autofocus has moved to Dual Pixel on all sensors. enough to ensure faster but more accurate focus.

We’ve already criticized Samsung for its lack of precision in its ecological commitments. Tonight, the mark was more accurate than usual. We can cite as an example its Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which is made with 22% recycled glass.

What products to expect for this conference?

Without saying anything, it seems pretty clear that the Samsung Galaxy S23 will be the star of the evening. All three phones have been subject to multiple leaks and Samsung has even confirmed things like the presence of a 200-megapixel sensor in the lineup. The main innovation this year will be based on the performance of the three phones, as we should finally see the transition to Snapdragon for Europe.

As for the rest of the products expected this evening, we also expect the release of Galaxy Books, MacBook-like portable PCs, some models of which have the ability to rotate their screens 360 degrees.

Samsung should also introduce the latest version of its interface, One UI 5.1. We expect news of future Galaxy tablets, but there haven’t been any rumors of a release in that direction in recent weeks. For watches, headphones or folding smartphones, Samsung usually favors the month of August.

Tested with the M2 Pro, the Apple Mac mini enters another galaxy

The Mac Mini M2 Pro made available to us by Apple is equipped with the SoC Silicon M2 Pro in its version which has 12 CPU cores and 19 GPU cores, an option billed at €345 as the base configuration equipped with M2 Pro with 10 CPU Hai core and 16 GPU cores.

The Mac mini 2023 and its M2 Pro (12/19) get a performance index of 168. The gain compared to the Mac mini M1 is substantial, +86% (90), and enough to create a range effect with the Mac mini M2. who gets an index of 120 (+40%). Obviously, this won’t work on the Mac Studio’s flower beds, which, with its M1 Ultra, is some 20% more efficient (202) than our Mac Mini M2 Pro (12/19).

To find equivalents for x86 processors in Intel and AMD, you’ll need to turn to the Intel Core i7-12700H in the Lenovo Legion 7 Pro ($189) or the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS in the Corsair Voyager a1600 ($145). ,

The 12 CPU cores are also assisted by 19 GPU cores, which work wonders with 3D and video rendering applications. Thus, our Blender scene is completed in 8 min 38 sec without using any GPU core. By activating Metal, this count increases to 3 minutes 33 seconds, saving 59% of the time. Just like that, in Photoshop, our filter application goes from 1 minute 22 seconds to 15 seconds!

As usual on the Apple M platform, we couldn’t resist the urge to launch the game shadow of the tomb raider, On our Full HD screen with the Very High preset, the Mac mini M2 Pro achieved an average of 62 fps, which is well above the 23 fps achieved by the Mac mini M2.

A word about the 2TB SSD in our model; It smoothly reaches 5.5Gb/s in read and 4.9Gb/s in write.

Once we measured the consumption of the Mac mini M2 Pro:

  • Passive: 3W
  • Apple TV+ Video Playback: 4W
  • Play shadow of the tomb raider : 49 W
  • Play subway getaway : 59 W
  • Blender Metal: 31W
  • Cinebench R23: 50W
  • Blender Metal + Cinebench R23: 83W

The power consumption of the Mac Mini M2 Pro is therefore particularly low, regardless of the scenario. For comparison, a Lenovo Legion 5 with Ryzen 5 5600H and RTX 3060 consumes 34 W at idle (with its screen on), 110 W in encoding, and 160 W in game.
