Video footage of an interview taken when Prince Harry and Prince William were in their 20s has resurfaced and royal fans are wondering if the clips could have predicted the royal brothers’ current ‘rift’. The interview has royal fans wondering if Harry and William are simply having “childish chatter” during the interview, or if the jokes may show “red flags” that reflect their current troubled relationship.
Body language expert Judi James has analyzed the resurfaced video of Harry and William from 2009, in which the royal brothers are interviewed about their careers in the armed forces at Royal Air Force Station Shawbury in Shropshire, England.
In Harry’s last memoir, Spare, the royal wrote that he and ‘Wily’ shared a cottage together 10 minutes from the Air Force base in 2009 and it was the first time they had lived together since that they were at boarding school together at Eton College.
In a resurfaced interview, reporters asked the brothers about living together, to which William joked, “Well, keep in mind that I cook and feed him pretty much every day. I think he did pretty well. »
William goes on and jokes about Harry leaving his dishes in the sink and having to clean up after his younger brother, to which Harry smiles and says, “Oh, the lies.”
Judi James is TV’s leading expert in body language and social behavior and in an exclusive with the Express, she explained why it’s common for siblings to “joke” with each other.

Judi said, “Jokes can be a form of sibling fighting game, a way of establishing pecking orders and airing complaints under the guise of humor.”
However, she claimed that this clip of Harry and William could raise “red flags” in her professional opinion. She continued: ‘Even in families this needs to be fine-tuned and this video of William and Harry exchanging endless banter as they are interviewed about their experiences as helicopter pilots seems to raise several red flags in terms of not knowing when to stop or how far to go.
She claimed the interview took place at a time that was a “pivotal time in their development as brothers and men”.
At the start of the interview, Harry complemented William and said, “I think of the two of us he definitely has more brains than me, we established him at school” to which William jokingly rolled his eyes.
Harry then joked about his older brother’s “balding”. William laughed and said, “Pretty rich coming from a ginger.”
Judi analyzed this section of the interview and suggested: “Harry seems to be trying to praise his brother during their interview but when he talks about William having ‘the brains’, William rolls his eyes in a dramatic gesture of rejection and exasperation.”
She claimed: “Harry seems very serious for much of this interview and although he also happily joins in on the banter, he feels like he would have liked a few moments of adult seriousness and maybe a bit of respect for what he has accomplished.”
The body language expert said: “Their jokes are childish. William’s “baldness” is brought up, getting the response that Harry is “a ginger”. It’s easy to hear that this is a “comedic” routine that they’ve been using as a way to trade virtual punches for years.
However, Judi claimed the ‘mumbled shares’ during the interview are ‘relentless’ and there are body language cues that suggest the joke is ‘going too far’.
The body language expert suggested: “At one point Harry stops smiling and crosses his arms to signal that he’s shut down to talk seriously about his career, but William’s teenage demotion continues. which refers to how he will cook and feed him every day” and how Harry “leaves the dishes in the sink” and “snores”.
“It’s William who takes on a critical parenting role, which tends to push the ‘victim’ into a rebellious childish state, especially if he wants to be treated like an adult. It sounds fun and even affectionate, but the feelings behind these jokes seem disturbing.
Judi ended her analysis by suggesting that the interview could have hinted at the future relationship of the royal brothers. She said: “With Harry wanting to be treated and respected as a grown man and even a hero and William referring to him as a naughty child, the seeds of their current rift could easily be on display here.”
