According to reports from police scanners, a significant amount of red and gold confetti was discovered near the library, indicating it may have come from party poppers.

The news came as authorities announced that the University of Oklahoma campus is now secure and no longer poses a threat.

Officials have announced that the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman is now secure and poses no threat to the community.

It comes nearly 90 minutes after the school initially alerted the public to an active shooter on Friday.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Foster confirmed to FOX3 that the campus is safe and no injuries have been reported.

Additionally, University Police issued an “all clear” alert, and after a thorough search, no threats were discovered. The university tweeted that there was no longer a threat to campus, and the alert was canceled at 10:53 p.m. CT Friday.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. CT, the University posted a tweet alerting the public to an active shooter on campus and urging individuals to take immediate action by running, hiding, or fighting.

This warning was quickly followed by another tweet stating that university police were investigating possible shootings on school grounds and advising individuals to stay away from the South Oval area. and take refuge where they were.

Late Friday night, authorities cleared the campus and as a result the shelter-in-place order was lifted.
