This follows reports in the media on Thursday of a potential large-scale gold heist at the airport earlier in the week.
A spokesperson for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said they could only say the investigation was being led by Peel Regional Police at FOX3.
The spokesperson mentioned that they were not verifying the occurrence of the theft; rather, they validate if the theft really took place, and it is investigated by Peel Police.
Peel Police declined to comment on the situation or confirm whether a robbery actually took place.
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority has informed FOX3 that due to the ongoing investigation by Peel Regional Police, it is unable to provide information on the case at this time.
