Omarosa Manigault Newman says former President Donald Trump is “angry” about his indictment and will use it to create further divisions in the country.

Manigault Newman made the comment Sunday during an interview with the Reverend Al Sharpton on his MSNBC program, National Policynm

The former Trump protege, who served as an aide to the White House in his administration and appeared on his reality show, The apprenticesaid she was happy to finally see her ex-boss held accountable.

“It is time Donald Trump was brought to justice for the crimes he allegedly committed. It’s time he faced some consequences for his criminal behavior,” Manigault Newman told Sharpton.

Trump was indicted Thursday by a grand jury convened by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for the former president’s alleged role in a scheme to pay porn money to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign. .

The former president denied any wrongdoing and responded to the indictment with a statement saying, “This is political persecution and election interference at the highest level in history.”

On Monday, Trump left Florida and returned to New York, a day before he was due to surrender and make his first court appearance to face criminal charges.

Manigault Newman said she thought Trump was seething after becoming the first ex-president in US history to be indicted.

“I think Donald is angry. I think he’s frustrated. This is the first time he has been faced with responsibilities,” she said.

When asked what she thinks will happen on Tuesday when Trump is formally indicted, Manigault Newman predicted it would be a sideshow.

“He’s going to make a circus out of it and unfortunately the country suffers when we allow this kind of behavior,” she told Sharpton.

While many Republican leaders, including former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, have expressed support for Trump, Omarosa said they have something to gain.

“These Republicans aren’t really thinking about Trump, they’re thinking about trying to entice Trump supporters as we enter this new round of presidential elections,” she said. “When I think of the governor of Florida, he really panders to those supporters who he thinks will help him secure the Republican nomination.”

In 2018, Manigault Newman published a revealing book about his time in administration titled Unhinged: A White House insider’s account of Trump.

The Trump campaign was ordered to pay her more than $1.3 million in legal fees in April 2022, after Trump unsuccessfully sued her for allegedly breaching a nondisclosure agreement.
