On March 25, 2023 at 0808 hours, DCSO was dispatched to the Hard Rock Hotel for an active shooter report.
The DCSO First Deputy arrived at 8:11 a.m. and began searching for the suspect.
A mutual aid request was automatically sent to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and the Eldorado County Sheriff’s Office.
Inside the Hard Rock at the Center bar, a male victim was found with a gunshot wound to the head.
The Tahoe Douglas Fire Department transported the victim to Barton Hospital where he later died. The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Omar Reyes Garcia.
A description of the suspect and his associated vehicle was provided by Hard Rock Security and Surveillance.
The vehicle was located and stopped by the Eldorado Sheriff’s Office on Highway 50 near Sierra in Tahoe.
Edgar Julian Delgado, 24, and Savannah Racquel Tautaupale, 26, were contacted and detained. Delgado was arrested for open murder by the EDSO at our request.
Tautaupale was arrested for DUI by the California Hwy Patrol. Both individuals were incarcerated at EDSO Prison in South Lake, California.
