Update: According to a Facebook update from the Frankfort KY Police, there is no verified information regarding an active shooter, casualties or injuries at the Transportation Cabinet. Law enforcement responded quickly to the scene and is currently engaged in a systematic search and clearing of the area.

At approximately 3 p.m. today, Kentucky State Police received a report of a possible active shooter at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Mayo Underwood Building in Frankfort. KSP emptied the buildings and confirmed that there were no injuries or gunshots. The investigation will continue.

A number of law enforcement agencies are responding to reports of an active shooter at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in Frankfort.

Officers and detectives are currently on site to investigate.

A staff member at the Transportation Building on Mero Street in Frankfort, Ky., told FOX3 there was an active shooter in the area. It should be noted that there are three state office buildings located in close proximity to each other, one on High Street and two on Mero Street.

Social media reports indicate that people are evacuating the building.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced on its Facebook page that the Frankfurt regional driver’s license office is currently closed and apologized for any inconvenience caused, and advised people to check for updates.

At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation or identification of victims.

No suspects were identified and no information was immediately released regarding possible arrests.

Police are asking the public to stay away from the area.
