A man has been charged with placing three pipe bombs filled with gunpowder on his neighbor’s porch, New Hampshire police said.
Laconia police said they were called to a woman’s home on Sunday. She gave an officer a package wrapped in plastic and duct tape, and showed a video of her neighbor putting something on her porch, according to a police affidavit released Monday.

The officer said he could smell three distinct objects. One was packed in a plastic shopping bag.

A police bomb squad has been dispatched to the home of a woman in Laconia, New Hampshire, after her neighbor placed a package containing three pipe bombs on her porch.
“As I was unpacking this bag, I could see a white PVC pipe that had what looked like a fuse connected to it,” the officer said in the affidavit. The state police bomb squad was asked to respond and “determined that they were three pipe bombs filled with gunpowder.”

The 53-year-old later said he put the package on the porch and described its contents, according to the affidavit. No possible explanation was given.

The man faced three counts of possession of an infernal device and was arrested on Monday afternoon. His case was referred to the office of a local public defender.
