Currently, Channel 8 carries the majority of the Fox network’s schedule, although a 10:00 p.m. show kicks off the network’s late-night Saturday night time an hour later. Rachael Ray, Wheel of Fortune, Live with Kelly and Ryan, Right This Minute, 25 Words or Fewer, Judge Judy, Jeopardy and Schitt’s Creek are just a few of the syndicated shows the station will air starting September 2021. WSYT at Syracuse, New York; WXIX-TV in Cincinnati; WLUK-TV in Green Bay, Wis.; KDVR in Denver; KVHP in Lake Charles, Louisiana; WALA-TV in Mobile, Alabama; WLUC-DT2 in Marquette, Michigan; and WDAF-TV in Kansas City are the other nine Fox stations that carry both Jeopardy and Wheel.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, WVUE consistently finished third in the ratings, behind WDSU-TV and WWL-TV. The station’s frequent pre-emptions on network programming was a major contributing factor to its third-place finish. Additionally, the station did not carry American Bandstand or several of the network’s Saturday morning cartoons. Prior to the premiere of Nightline in 1979, ABC’s late-night lineup consisted of movies and reruns of prime-time series. He discontinued those programs. WVUE could not, and essentially did not want, to increase its ranking position despite ownership and programming changes until it became a Fox affiliate.
