After nearly a month on the run, police said they arrested the grandmother wanted for allegedly killing her infant granddaughter with a vehicle before quickly driving away from the scene. Jeffersonville, Indiana cops have been looking for Lisa G. Tesch, 51, since June. Turns out she was across the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky. Police announced his arrest on Facebook.
Tesch was taken into custody Friday afternoon on the Jeffersonville charges and also outstanding Kentucky warrants, police said.
When her granddaughter dies, she is accused of not having stayed at the scene of an accident that resulted in death. She is also charged with a probation violation in Indiana on unrelated charges of resisting law enforcement using a vehicle, possession of a narcotic, criminal recklessness, reckless driving at a unreasonable speed, high or low, in order to endanger safety and possession of marijuana.
“Detectives on both sides of the river have worked tirelessly since this incident to bring Lisa Tesch to justice,” police wrote. “Information was developed that led detectives to the 200 block of Glendora Avenue, where they located Tesch and one of his family members, Joshua David, and arrested them without incident. Both are in custody on unrelated unrelated warrants.
The victim, 18-month-old Eleanor Campbell, died of her injuries at Norton Children’s Hospital. She was at Motel 6 on Hospitality Way in Jeffersonville on June 16 with her mother Cheyenne Allen and her mother’s boyfriend, according to WLKY. Speaking before police identified Tesch as the suspect, Allen told the outlet that Eleanor rushed in when the boyfriend opened the door.
The toddler ran “out of excitement to see his grandmother”, according to police in a WTHR report.
Allen said Eleanor reached the parking lot before she could stop him. After being hit, the driver fled.
“I ran for the driver’s door,” Allen reportedly said. “Then I stopped because I knew my daughter was lying there dying.”
Tesch was also wanted for a probation violation. Kentucky correctional records show convictions for theft by unlawful taking or disposition between $500 and $1,000; having received stolen goods between $500 and $1,000; and theft by deception between $500 and $10,000.

Tesch remains housed at the Louisville City Jail. It is not known whether she has retained the services of a lawyer.
