In late 2022, after Gen Z came out strong in the polls, conservative figures suggested raising the voting age. They suggested this because they have nothing to offer young people. Nothing. So take away their right to vote.
Former Trump White House adviser Kellyanne Conway told Fox News host Laura Ingraham that Republicans “maybe” have some work to do to win the youth vote.
“So we can’t be beaten politically,” Kellyanne insisted. “I think we’ve already won the political arguments on the economy, on education, on a number of issues.”
“I think we have work to do on young people who think differently about abortion, maybe, or guns, or climate change,” she continued. “But even there, the messages from Democrats are generally cynical.”
“The place I’m really at – what really worries me about this, Laura, is that the left is becoming a machine for engaging with young people because influencers have this domino effect,” he said. she adds.
Republicans watched gleefully as Roe was knocked down, then took a hard-right stance, pursuing abortion pills and wanting no rape or incest exceptions. Republicans have come out in force against student pardons. And Republicans don’t care about the climate crisis. The only thing they care about is power. That’s it.
I don’t know what political ideas Kellyanne is talking about. Republicans campaigned on jobs and fighting inflation, and now they’re only being used as a tool to hamper investigations into the twice-indicted and impeached former president. What politics. She talked about education policies. I assume she is referring to book bans. None of this appeals to young American voters.
Maybe Kellyanne should listen to her daughter.
