Majors was arrested on Saturday, March 25, after a 30-year-old woman “told police she had been assaulted,” the NYPD said on the day of the arrest.

The Lede Company released a statement at the time denying any wrongdoing by the actor. “He did nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clarifying this,” a company representative said in a statement to Urban Hollywood 411.

Majors, 33, was arraigned the day after his arrest and charged by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office with third-degree assault, three counts of attempted third-degree assault, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree and one count of harassment in the second degree.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman said she was struck “in the face with an open hand, causing significant pain and a laceration behind the ear.” The complaint also alleged that the actor “put his hand on his neck, causing him bruising and significant pain” and grabbed his hand “causing swelling, bruising and significant pain in his finger.”

Majors’ criminal defense attorney Priya Chaudhry said further evidence would prove the actor is “entirely innocent and did not assault her in any way”.

“Unfortunately this incident happened because this woman was having an emotional breakdown,” Chaudhry said. “The NYPD is obligated to make an arrest in these situations, and that is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We anticipate that these charges will soon be dropped.

On March 30, the attorney released three text messages allegedly sent by the woman involved in the assault case, and said Majors was arrested “due to an NYPD protocol requiring an arrest in certain circumstances. “.
