Legendary talk show host Jerry Springer dies aged 79

Jerry Springer, a well-known talk show host, died at the age of 79 at his Chicago, Illinois residence on April 27, 2023. Springer’s family said he passed away peacefully at his Chicago home. .

In a statement, the family said:

“Jerry’s ability to connect with people was central to his success in everything he tried, whether it was politics, broadcasting or just joking around with people on the street who wanted a picture or a word. . He is irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but the memories of his intelligence, heart and humor will live on.

The statement continued:

“Funeral services and a memorial gathering are being planned. To remember Jerry, the family asks that instead of flowers, you consider following his spirit and making a donation or engaging in an act of kindness to a person in need or a worthy advocacy organization. As he always said, “Take care of yourself and others.”

Springer was best known for his 27-year tenure as the host of his talk show, where guests were known for their controversial, excessive and often sexual behavior.

According to sources including Jene Galvin and TMZ, Springer died following a brief illness of pancreatic cancer, which he was diagnosed with months before his death.

He is survived by his sister, Evelyn, and his daughter, Katie, whom he had with his ex-wife Micki Velton.

English broadcaster Piers Morgan wrote on Twitter:

I loved working with him on America’s Got Talent, I loved hanging out with him (we lived in the same hotel for two years), I loved arguing with him (he loved his politics), I loved I liked everything about him. Evisceration.
