“I had a structure there and I knew if I went out on a Wednesday and didn’t show up on Thursday, you would be a little ab ***** king.”
He continued: “When I was huge there was no backlash. If I wanted to go out and do something and didn’t want to show up the next day, then I wouldn’t, and that’s the wrong attitude. There was no structure. I had all that time and money in my hands, and I just…I wouldn’t say I screwed it up, but in other words, without that structure, I fell apart .
Jack said he had been depressed over the past year “when money ran out and work dried up because of bad titles”.
“It messed me up, I lost a lot of work doing stupid things. All of a sudden the phone stopped ringing. For the past six months I’ve been in panic mode,” he recalled.
Jack continued, “I hit rock bottom. The bottom line for me wasn’t making the money I was making and I just felt like at times I didn’t want to be here. I never said that before. At Christmas, I overdosed on mate. I was ready to leave. I didn’t want to be here. It’s heartbreaking to think…”
Things only got tougher after his grandmother passed away and he saw his work “go down and down”. He also admitted to reading Instagram comments, which weighed on his mentality even more.
Jack has now gone back to doing what he did before Love Island, starting an office supply and stationery business to give him more structure and a stable income. He also hopes to regain the trust of television brands and producers to resume his television career.
