Idris Elba rushes to save 200 passengers in the Apple series

“We have a job to do, we just have to get by,” Idris Elba tells a distraught passenger in the trailer to Diverta new action thriller coming to Apple TV+ this summer.

THE Luther The star director produces and directs the cast of the seven-part series as Sam Nelson, a seasoned business negotiator who must step up and use all of his wits to save the 200 people aboard a hijacked plane.

The drama is told in real time, following the plane’s journey as it heads for London on a seven-hour flight, while police on the ground search for clues.

Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife, Snowpiercer) plays the role of “Zahra Gahfoor”, a counter-terrorism officer who is on the ground when the plane is hijacked and is involved in the investigation.

The cast also includes Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimee Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel and Ben Miles.

The series is created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, who also wrote and directed the thriller.

The drama is produced by 60 Forty Films, as part of its exclusive content deal with Apple TV+, alongside production company Idiot Lamp Productions. The project is also the first series to debut under Elba’s first deal with Apple TV+ and its Green Door Pictures.

In addition to writing and directing, Kay and Field Smith serve as executive producers alongside Elba, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta and Kris Thykier.

Divert debuts on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, with the first two episodes, followed by a new episode every Wednesday through August 2.
