The plant of Pinova, a company that manufactures plastic resin and is located on Cook Street in Brunswick, experienced a major fire Saturday morning which reignited, and the fire departments of the city of Brunswick and the Glynn County are still trying to control it.

The Glynn County Board of Commissioners issued an evacuation order for residents living at least half a mile from the factory, which was issued around 5.30pm.

Around 3:30 p.m., residents living within a one-mile radius of the Pinova plant were ordered to shelter in place by Glynn County officials due to windy conditions.

This order applies to people residing on St. Simons Island and north of St. Simons Island Airport, and will remain in effect until further notice.

In order to fight the blaze, crews from Wayne and Camden counties are brought in to assist fire crews from Brunswick and Glynn counties.

The Glynn County Board of Commissioners said this morning there were no injuries or public threats and the fire had been brought under control.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information becomes available.
