NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The president of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce said yesterday that the island needs a global vision, noting that while it remains ready for serious recovery and development, “we need the things happen and happen quickly”.
While addressing Grand Bahama’s business prospects, British Chamber of Commerce President James Carey said he was “fully confident that Grand Bahama remains on the verge of serious recovery and development.” .
Carey noted that while the business community and the Grand Bahama community as a whole have been impacted by various issues and events over the years, “we need things to happen and happen quickly.”
Carey added, “Grand Bahama needs a holistic view of where we are going. Besides desiring success, something we all want, we still need to be given a blueprint for the ultimate direction of where this island should go in its development. There was a plan created to develop this main town and at the time, it appears the plan was on the way. That really doesn’t seem to be the case today.
Carey noted that issues such as crime, the state of the airport, the hospital, the Grand Lucayan and downtown vagrants are all “fixable” with determination and attention.
