Governor Makinde Tears Oyo Accord Party

The decision by executive members of the Accord Party in Oyo State to endorse the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Seyi Makinde, in the state for a second term. turned against him.

It was then that the party’s National Working Committee disbanded members of the executive for supporting the incumbent governor against party candidate Adebayo Adelabu ahead of the March 18 gubernatorial election.

This was contained in a statement released after a two-hour emergency meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) chaired by National Chairman, Hon. Muhammad Lawal Nalado, Thursday.

The party said those relieved of their duties are Accord State Chairman Prince Kolade Ojo, Hon. Yinka Dairo, who is the Secretary of Oyo State Accord, and all members of the party executive committee in Oyo State.

The statement said the NWC has also decided to set up an interim committee to oversee the party’s activities ahead of the elections.

The five-man interim committee is made up of members such as Alhaji Isiaka Salami, who will serve as the interim president of Oyo State, Bashiru Ayobami, who will serve as the interim secretary, Hon. Fatai Salawu, Bimpe Martins, Ayodele Oyajide, who are members.

Nalado also ordered those concerned to hand over all party property and documents in their possession to the new members of the interim executive with immediate effect.

The national president lambasted relevant members of the disbanded exco for dropping out of the Accord Party candidates, who he says are frontrunners in Saturday’s election.

He thus enjoined the new executive committee to commit to ensuring the party’s victory in the next election.
