After headlining the 2023 Coachella Festival last Sunday, Frank Ocean will not be returning to the stage for Weekend 2 as planned.
A rep for the singer said Variety Ocean is unable to perform due to a leg injury he suffered on the festival grounds prior to his performance.
“After sustaining a leg injury on the festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1, Frank Ocean was unable to perform the scheduled show but was still determined to perform, and within 72 hours the show was been reworked out of necessity,” the singer’s rep said Wednesday, adding that Ocean suffered two broken bones and a sprained left leg.
As a result, his doctor advised him against playing due to the severity of his injuries, according to the rep.

The news comes as many fans were disappointed on Sunday when Ocean took the stage an hour late. Due to the delayed start, the scheduled two-hour performance ended abruptly due to local curfew restrictions. Fans were also disappointed when it was announced that her show would not be streamed live on YouTube like the festival’s other performances in Indio, California.
“It was chaotic. There is beauty in chaos. It’s not what I intended to show, but I enjoyed being there and I’ll see you soon,” said the interpreter of “Novacane” in the press release.
Ocean’s set last Sunday marked their first live performance in six years. He was slated to headline Coachella for the first time in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused the festival to be canceled.
The popular festival returned in 2022, with Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd headlining.
Following Ocean’s cancellation, Blink-182 will take its place as the Sunday headliner, according to reports. Bad Bunny and Blackpink are still expected to make headlines on Friday and Saturday.
