Neil Cavuto, FOX News and Business Host was visibly upset on Tuesday by a group called Patriotic Millionaires who held a press conference imploring the federal government to raise taxes on the very wealthy.
Patriot Millionaires Chairman Morris Pearl joined Fox News to discuss their intentions.
Throughout the very long interview, Cavuto refused to understand the idea that millionaires and billionaires should pay their fair share, and raising taxes on them is fair and just. His ears were bleeding as a true millionaire spoke like a progressive.
“Now this idea of a wealth tax, which would take you to those kind of levels, is something that a lot of people think would be very onerous and would take us back to a time when the wealthy were shelling out upwards of 70 to 90 % of their wealth,” Cavuto said. “Do you think that’s a good idea?
Pearl had to re-educate the host of Fox News at the time when in America the country was prosperous and when the very rich were correctly taxed.
“Listen, a lot of people were making a lot of money. Businesses were being created. The interstate highway system was being created. than they currently do,” Pearl said.
Equal for the course, Cavuto was more concerned with government spending than raising revenue and, of course, taxing the wealthy.
“I saw some of your colleagues, including Abigail Disney, say they wanted to pay more,” Cavuto said. “It doesn’t matter who foots the bill, and the wealthy still disproportionately foot the bulk of that bill.”
“But do you think we should apply the same creativity to how we spend our money before we start giving more money?” Cavuto asked.
“Well, listen, the government can spend more money. The budget deficit wasn’t written in stone. It was written by a few interns in the middle of the night in pencil in late 2017,” Pearl said.
“We have the kind of wealth in our country, and we can spend more money. We just have to take some of the money from the richest, the billionaires, instead…”
Cavuto was about to blow his stack because he couldn’t imagine how very wealthy people would want to do the right thing and pay more taxes to help others across the country.
