Meghan Markle will skip the coronation of King Charles III
Meghan Markle will not be present at the coronation of King Charles III on May 6, as planned. The former actress will be back in the US to celebrate her son Archie’s 4th birthday, sources have said.
But many believe the real reason Markle chose not to attend the important ceremony is to avoid the awkward situation between her and the royal family.
The Duchess of Sussex, 41, will stay in Montecito, California, while her husband Prince Harry returns home to see his estranged father crowned king next month.
The coronation falls on the same day as the monarch’s grandson, Archie’s birthday, and a source has revealed,
“There was no way Meghan was missing her son’s birthday.”
For the first time ever, Buckingham Palace referred to Harry’s children as Prince Archie and Princess Lillibet in a statement confirming their plans.
It was only recently that the titles of the Sussex children were updated in the line of succession. An insider said that “that’s a shame“that Archie and Lilibet – nicknamed Lili – will not be present on”such a historic occasion.”
The Palace announced,
“The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on May 6. The Duchess of Sussex will stay in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

Royal fans had their take on Meghan’s absence from the coronation
Archie, who was born in London, has only returned to the UK once. His parents brought him for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee when they moved to the United States in 2020.
Lilibet, on the other hand, who was born in California, celebrated her first birthday at Nottingham Cottage during Jubilee celebrations. It was also his first trip to his father’s home country.
Harry has revealed he wants the Royal Family to apologize to him and his wife for the harsh treatment they allegedly suffered in the UK.
During his interview with ITV in January, the fourth in line to the throne opened up about his plans to attend his father’s coronation, saying:
“A lot can happen between now and then.
“But the door is always open. The ball is in their court. There’s a lot to discuss, and I really hope they’re willing to sit down and talk about it.
The coronation will be the first time Harry has faced his family since the release of his bombshell book Spare.
An insider revealed that even if Meghan wouldn’t go, it would be extremely awkward for Harry.
Fans took to social media to comment on Meghan’s absence on her father-in-law’s important day.
One wrote,
“Meghan staying away and Harry not being allowed on the balcony is the best case scenario we can expect. Now let’s hope Meghan is not a commentator on US TV.
