Chang was a founding member of the Asian-American spoken word ensemble I Was Born with Two Tongues, along with Denizen Kane. She worked as a host and spokesperson for ImaginAsian Entertainment, hosting the TV series The Lounge from 2004 to 2007. She played the role of Kay Ho in the independent film Colin Hearts Kay, which won the People’s Choice Award in 2010 at the Brooklyn Film Festival and The New York United Film Festival, where it also won Best Narrative Feature. In 2010, Chang won a New York Emmy Award for the documentary series On the Frontlines: Doing Business in China, with co-host James Fallows, from The Atlantic Monthly.

Chang has appeared in advertisements for Cablevision, WebMD, Carmax, Harrah’s, Verizon, Honda, and Huntington Bank, among others. Chang gained fame as “Katie” (“the ba-zing girl”) in a Ruffles Ultimate commercial in 2012, earning a spot on Complex magazine’s list of “10 Hottest Women in Commercials”. Chang had recurring roles on The Vampire Journals as well as guest appearances on How I Met Your Mother, Brothers & Sisters, 90210, Ringer, and Community. She also appeared as Phyllis Moss in NCIS and as Kathy Baker in The Young and the Restless. Chang played presenter Lien Nguyen in Total Recall.
Chang has also written, produced and starred in a number of short films, including “The Humberville Poetry Slam”, which was a Golden Reel Award and Linda Mabalot New Directors/New Visions Award finalist at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Chang’s short “Mouthbreather,” directed by writer and Rules of Engagement producer Gloria Calderon Kellett, was an Official Selection of the LA Comedy Shorts Film Festival and the Newport Beach Film Festival in 2012. Chang won Best actress for her work as Suzy in the short film One Mistake at the San Diego 48-Hour Film Project Film Festival. In 2016 she completed the short film Parachute Girls, which she wrote, produced and starred with Lynn Chen and Drew Powell.
