EastEnders fans remained convinced that Lola’s mother Emma is hiding dark secrets after her bizarre behavior sparked even more theories in Monday’s episode.
In the latest installment, Emma (Patsy Palmer) was keen to hang out with Lola – she was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor last year – for Mother’s Day.
As they spent time together, the conversation turned to Emma’s own mother – and it soon became apparent that she was hiding something.
Emma told Lola that her “glamorous” mother died in a nursing home during lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic.
Later in the episode, Lola and her young daughter Lexi tried to find out more about their late relative and when they asked, Emma looked freaked out.

When pressed on the matter, Emma changed the subject and ran away from the house, saying she had to take care of an elderly neighbor.
After her sudden departure, it was clear that Lola and her partner Jay Brown didn’t believe her and that something fishy was going on.
Those watching were also unconvinced and took to social media to voice their theories that she was lying about her mother.
Taking to Twitter, viewers guessed that she might not even be Lola’s mother or that she might even have killed her own mother.
One viewer said: ‘Emma doesn’t want to talk about her mum when Lexi does. Yes, she is definitely lying. I wonder if she killed her mother?
Another tweeted: ‘Feel like her mum isn’t dead!’ I don’t trust Emma at all!
A third fan added: “I think Emma could be talking about her ‘mother'”, while a fourth tweeted: “She’s not Lola’s mother is she?”
Meanwhile, a fifth viewer said: ‘His mum died during lockdown? I thought she said both of her parents were dead? Did I hear wrong?

It comes after Jay was accused of cheating on his wife after Emma saw him having an innocent conversation with another woman at a party.
While Jay insisted he would never cheat on Lola, his furious wife decided to have her next hospital appointment without him, but after being terrified by his prognosis, she turned to him for help.
Speaking about the episodes, actor Jamie admitted that Jay has become increasingly protective of Lola in recent weeks as her health continues to deteriorate.
He said: “He is really worried and really worried. He’s very protective of Lola because he can see her symptoms developing, which makes him really, really worried.
As he and Emma begin to clash, she accuses him of being overprotective of Lola, and Jamie admits he agrees.

He added: “I would, but obviously there’s this element of ‘well I’m here everyday’, ‘I’ve been here all the time and you haven’t’, so even though Jay understands Emma’s point of view, she doesn’t know their setup and she doesn’t know how they got on.
‘Emma has arrived and she has opinions about the situation but she doesn’t really know what is really going on.
“It makes Jay quite frustrated actually. He can also see that she’s not who she claims to be, he can feel cracks and he can sense that there’s something wrong with her. He’s not totally bought by the whole “I’m so sorry” performance.
