Nancy Lenehan stars opposite Ellie Kemper in ABC To file (working title), a comedy pilot based on the British series Mother land, from writer Julieanne Smolinski, Merman Television from Sharon Horgan and Clelia Mountford, Feigco Entertainment from Paul Feig, Lionsgate and ABC Signature. Judy Greer, Karan Soni and Michaela Conlin also star.
Written by Smolinski, To file (wt) focuses on Julia (Kemper), a working mother for whom nothing is working so she goes in search of her village. With the help of new friends Calvin (Soni) and Liz (Conlin), Julia discovers she might just be able to juggle work and parenthood once in a while. It’s a comedy for anyone who dropped their kids off at school, breathed a sigh of relief…then realized it was Sunday.
Lenehan will play Marianne. Warm, loving, responsible, the kind of person who has pebbles in her garden with platitudes carved on them, Marianne is Julia’s mother, caring for her children since the eldest was a baby – and that’s been six years NOW. Having been a single working mother herself, Marianne is not without compassion for Julia’s situation and she loves her grandchildren, but she is done. Marianne has decided to live her own life from now on, and that includes having an affair with a guy named Rene and firmly taking time for herself.
Michael Showalter directs and produces alongside Smolinski, Kemper, Horgan, Mountford, Stacy Greenberg and Kira Carstensen for Merman Television, Paul Feig and Dan Magnante for Feigco Entertainment as well as Holly Walsh and Helen Serafinowicz.
Lenehan was recently seen in Prime Video’s A separate league. She also returned to the HBO Max series Generation, bless this mess for ABC and HBO VIP. She also recently shot recurring roles for the series. The boys And Jack Ryan for Amazon Prime. On the cinema side, she recently shot Candy Cane Lane, a holiday comedy directed by Reginald Hudlin for Prime Video starring Eddie Murphy.
