“Daily Show” correspondents get guest host slots

The daily show correspondents get a chance in the home seat.

Roy Wood Jr., Jordan Klepper, Desi Lydic, Dulcé Sloan, Michael Kosta, Lewis Black and Ronny Chieng will begin hosting the late-night show in April, Comedy Central announcement Friday.

Wood Jr. is set to host the week of April 3. He will be followed by Jordan Klepper from April 17 to April 20. Desi Lydic will take over hosting duties from April 24 to April 27. Dulce Sloan will lead the series from May 1 through April 27. May 4. Michael Kosta hosts May 8-11. Ronny Chieng and Lewis Black will be assigned later accommodation dates.

Former host Trevor Noah said goodbye to the show in December.

As the producers search for a new host, they’ve been using well-known comics since January 17.

Leslie Jones was the first guest host of the new year and brought new energy to the show.

She was followed by Wanda Sykes, Chelsea Handler, Al Franken, DL Hughley, John Leguizamo, Hasan Minhaj, Kal Penn, Sarah Silverman and Marlon Wayans.

Now comes word that producers may stick with rotating hosts for a while as the show’s ratings increase.

Deadline reported Friday, the show’s ratings for the first quarter of 2023 are up 13% from the first quarter of 2022 when Noah was host. Social media buzz and views also increased, with online views up 16% compared to the same period last year.

Among some of the hottest moments, Chelsea Handler made headlines — and garnered some backlash — for her segment on the benefits of staying childless.

Kal Penn, who worked in the Obama administration, generated more buzz when he brought in President Joe Biden as a guest.

And former Democratic senator Al Franken has argued with Republican senator Lindsey Graham over Donald Trump’s pending indictment.

Now correspondents are tasked with keeping the momentum going And the buzz.

The daily show airs weeknights at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and is available the following morning on Paramount+.
