The Miami OnlyFans model charged with murder faces a new legal problem after the father of the man she allegedly killed sued her for negligence under Florida’s wrongful death law.
Courtney Clenney, 26, known online as Courtney Tailor, is charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of her then-boyfriend Christian Tobechukwu “Toby” Obumseli, 27, a cryptocurrency trader. The two lived together in a posh apartment. Clenney maintained that she stabbed Obumseli in self-defense.
The father of the deceased, Chio Obumseli, filed a lawsuit in Miami-Dade County Court, also citing the owners of the high-rise building where the assault took place, two property management companies and the building security company as named defendants.
“At all relevant times, Courtney Clenney owed a duty to the late Christian Obumseli to maintain the premises in question in a safe and secure manner,” the lawsuit states. “Courtney Clenney failed in her duty to exercise due diligence for the safety and protection of the deceased Christian Obumseli and acted in a reckless and negligent manner.”
The filing is light on the facts and largely uses standard negligence law legalese that alleges a series of 12 separate security failures and other such failures attributed to negligence that are “not yet discoveries”. Each of these alleged failures – and theoretical failures – is assigned to each defendant.
“Courtney Clenney created and/or authorized to create said unsafe conditions. Further, Courtney Clenney failed to warn residents of the building in question, guests and the public, including the deceased Christian Obumseli, of the existence of said unsafe conditions,” the lawsuit continues. “Courtney Clenney’s negligence caused injury to the deceased Christian Obumseli and directly led to his criminal assault.”

Specifically, the lawsuit alleges that the numerous negligent security failures constituted “an ‘inadequate and/or non-existent’ visible or physical deterrent to prevent” Obumseli’s assault.
“Criminals could commit physical assaults in the building in question without fear of arrest, discovery or prosecution,” the lawsuit claims. “An atmosphere was created in the building in question which facilitated the commission of crimes against persons.”
Obumseli’s father is suing on behalf of his son’s estate seeking damages in excess of $50,000, including pain and suffering, past and future loss of support and services, care costs medical and funeral arrangements, the deceased’s potential net accumulations and the deceased’s hereditary estate.
Clenney has been in pretrial detention since August 2022, when she was arrested and charged with the murder of Obumseli for the knife attack that occurred in April of that year.
Judge Laura Shearon Cruz denied the defendant bail after a bail hearing in November 2022.

Prosecutors have alleged in previous court documents that Clenney made more than $3 million from OnlyFans between 2020 and last August. More recently, the state claimed she earned $900,000 in 2020 and over $1.8 million in 2021.
The defendant’s father, however, testified that his net worth was considerably lower. Kim Clenney previously told Judge Cruz that her daughter currently has approximately $11,000 to her name, as well as $375,000 of equity in her home.
The court disagreed, finding her a flight risk and ruling that the Texas-born model ‘has no connection to Florida and has sufficient means to leave the country if she chooses to do so’ . The defendant has substantial funds and the ability to earn more outside the jurisdiction of the United States. »
The trial date has not yet been set.
