Chirag Delhi overflight maintenance work

New Delhi:

PWD Minister Atishi has ordered officials to complete the maintenance work of the Chirag Delhi flyover in a month from 50 days, given the severe traffic jams seen in the area with the closure of one of its roadways, according to a official statement.

The minister held a meeting with senior officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) to resolve the issue as a matter of priority, he added.

During the meeting, she asked the officials to identify other ways to decongest the Chirag Delhi overflight as soon as possible and complete its maintenance work within a month, according to the statement.

Atishi said she would review the status of the flyover maintenance work and added that she had asked disability managers to provide daily reports.

Due to maintenance work, part of the flyover – a causeway – was closed, which increased traffic congestion on the bridge and the roads leading to it.

According to the statement, according to PWD officials, it will take them nearly 50 days to complete the maintenance work. But the minister ordered them to complete the work at double the rate and within a month, he added.

The minister instructed officials that information on alternative routes be disseminated among commuters to avoid inconvenience.

She also discussed the issue of restricting the movement of heavy vehicles on the flyover of the newly constructed Ashram-DND extension, according to the statement.

In this regard, the officials said that due to the passage of high voltage electric cables above the flyover, the movement of heavy vehicles has been restricted as it may prove dangerous for these vehicles, he said. declared.

“Minister PWD has directed officials to relocate these high voltage wires during the month of March itself so that heavy vehicles can pass here as soon as possible,” the statement said.
