Ben Affleck is sharing the real story behind his viral moments at the Grammy Awards earlier this year.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said he had a “great time” at the event as he sat next to his wife, Jennifer Lopez, despite claims to the contrary on the internet.
He admitted he tried to avoid being filmed for a skit with host Trevor Noah, but that’s what ended up catching people’s attention.
“I saw [Noah] and I was like, ‘Oh, my God,'” Affleck said.

“They were framing us in that shot, but I didn’t know they were rolling. I leaned into her [Jennifer Lopez], and I was like, ‘As soon as they start rolling, I’m going to pull away from you and let you sit next to Trevor.’ She said, ‘You better not go.’ It’s a husband and wife story.
Their interaction went viral after the Grammy host sat next to Lopez, pretending to be on the phone with her mother after Sam Smith’s controversial performance.
During the track, Lopez was seen patting Affleck on the chest after they whispered to each other.
Many took him as the superstar berating Affleck in some way, but it was apparently nothing of the sort, according to Affleck.
The ‘Gone Girl’ star confessed that he didn’t know all the acts of the ceremony and that, in many ways for him, it was “your wife’s work event.”
Affleck also disputed accusations from commentators that he was drunk, especially since he had spoken about his alcoholism in the past.

“I went to events and got pissed off. I left and got bored. I went to award shows and got drunk, a bunch. Nobody ever said I was drunk. [But at the Grammys], they were like, ‘He’s drunk.’ And I thought, that’s interesting. It raises a whole other question as to whether or not it’s wise to acknowledge addiction because there’s a lot of compassion out there, but there’s still a huge stigma, which is often quite inhibiting,” he said. he declares.
“I think that discourages people from improving their lives.”
The “Armageddon” star has been sober since 2020.
