Biggs faces tough questions from callers about his role in the Capitol attack and his support for Trump’s pardon pledge.
Andy Biggs criticized C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal”
Andy Biggs, representing Arizona was the target of criticism on C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” Friday. The appellants criticized Biggs’ involvement in the events that occurred on January 6 at the United States Capitol. Host Greta Brawner also corrected Biggs for falsely stating that no one had been convicted of seditious conspiracy in connection with the attack on the Capitol.
First caller slams Biggs
The first caller was Jim from Oregon who slammed GOP members for supporting the former president Donald Trump’s promise to pardon those convicted of crimes related to the attack on the Capitol. He asked what was wrong with Republicans for supporting Trump’s decision. Biggs responded by saying that not all had been convicted of sedition, and many had only been convicted of misdemeanor trespassing.
Stewart Rhodes found guilty of seditious conspiracy
Brawner was quick to correct Biggs after the next caller. USA Today previously reported the story of Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes being convicted of seditious conspiracy in connection with the January 6 attack.
David from Mississippi
The second caller, David from Mississippi, asked whether those who conspired with Donald Trump to overthrow the government should be held accountable. He then asked about Biggs’ alleged pardon request from former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows. Biggs denied the charge and said the lie had been debunked.
Jeffrey Clark faces ethics charges
David then asked about Jeffrey Clark, a former senior US Department of Justice official facing ethics charges related to January 6. Biggs said there was no indication anyone had tried to overthrow the government and he had never even met Clark.
Michelle from New York
The third caller, Michelle from New York, asked about a video broadcast by Fox News host Tucker Carlson. The video showed that some people who had violated the Capitol on January 6 were let in by Capitol police. Biggs confirmed that Carlson’s depiction of the insurrection was accurate. He also suggested that if the allegations of the FBI infiltrating the legal representation of so-called QAnon Shaman, Jake Angeli of Phoenix, were true, then Angeli’s case should be dismissed.
