“discredited”, “total lack of respect”, “in nameless ugliness”. Here’s a sampling of feedback from our JVC community in the days following Cyberpunk 2077’s release on PS4 and Xbox One. This shows how terrible the disillusionment was. We had high hopes for this title, which appeared just before the release of the PS5 and which was supposed to allow the PS4 to leave with dignity.
Unpopulated universe, mnemonic framerate and even a desynchronized soundtrack… Technical problems abound, it’s a nuisance. CD Projekt Studios hasn’t kept its promise and we’re getting a massive blow from the developers of The Witcher Trilogy. However, the latter wanted to redeem itself and began its quest for redemption by regularly releasing optimization patches. A few months later, Cyberpunk 2077 rose to fame among gamers who give it a second chance. Honor is safe.
What saved Cyberpunk 2077 was also the game’s release on next-generation consoles, finally giving us an experience that lives up to the promise made two years ago. The PS4 Pro, rated 11/20 by our editorial team during a test on Cyberpunk 2077, then received a score of 17/20 during a new evaluation on PS5.
Even today, the universe of Cyberpunk 2077 continues to fascinate, as evidenced by the recent releases Cyberpunk: Edge Runner on netflix. Thanks to its upgrades, Cyberpunk 2077 finally delivers the gaming experience on PS5 and Xbox Series S that it should have when it launches in December 2020. More beautiful, more stable and better optimized than the previous compatibility: those who waited for the next generation patch will finally be able to enjoy the adventure in good conditions. But beyond these technical considerations, if patch 1.5 brings some welcome adjustments (more reactive mobs, better but still perfect driving and ergonomics…), the title remains globally similar to the PC version, albeit with less impressive visual rendering. . More than a year after its release, Cyberpunk 2077 remains an RPG with a fascinating universe and impeccable writing that suffers from immersion-breaking bugs and an artificial intelligence that falls short. Now that CD Projekt has finally honored its promises, we can’t wait to see what the Polish studio has in store for its futuristic open world future with new DLC.
